This directory lists playgrounds that have inclusive and accessible features. Yes, we would all love to have the perfect inclusive playground in our neighborhood. But we know that is not reality. Here you can find the best of the best as well as playgrounds that have added accessible swing seats or other accessible feature.

We know that it is difficult to push a wheelchair through wood mulch (EWF) and we have done our best to let you know about the surfacing.

In the BIO section, you will find a description of the playground. In the NOTES section, you will find information about the park the playground resides.

All of the playgrounds (at the time of publication) are open to the public. Any of the playgrounds located at schools, you can assume are open afterschool and on weekends. You may want to call the school to check on the opening times.

We have done our best to give as much information as we can find to describe the playgrounds. But we cannot visit all of these playgrounds, so please let us know what we are missing by submitting the park using the button below.

Biography Maryland State Parks have thirty-three accessible playgrounds across the state. All have been designed for children between the ages of 5 to 12 years of age. The ADA Access Specialist within MDNR Engineering/Construction, who also serves on MDNR Disabilities Advisory Council, indicated that the following playgrounds meet the Let Kids Play criteria for inclusion in this directory. You can find a map of each park by clicking on the park name. For more information about additional accessibility amenities such as cabins, camp sites, hunting areas, fishing piers, boat ramps, trails, picnic areas, and other adaptive recreation equipment, visit their Marylands’ Accessibility for All website. The playground is located near the accessible Comfort Station. The park is located along the banks of the Pocomoke River and is divided into two sections. The Shad Landing area is 3.5 miles south of Snow Hill near RT. 113. The Milburn Landing area is 7 miles northeast of Pocomoke City via RT. 364 or RT. 12.

Biography #POCONOTMNS Inclusive Playground at Pocono Raceway The #PoconoMtns Inclusive Playground is place for children of all ages and abilities to learn, grow and play together. The nearly 5,000 square foot playground is recognized as a National Demonstration Site, making it one of top 100 inclusive playgrounds in the country. The playground is another amenity available to all camping and Infield Block Party guests during our major events weekends. It is also open to local residents and track visitors to use throughout the spring, summer and fall months, free of charge. The #POCONOMTNS Inclusive is located inside Pocono Raceway’s infield. It includes several key inclusive elements: A rocker designed for wheelchair access and seating for the respective caregiver, an element which provides upper-body strength conditioning for children as they use a hand peddler to move a platform back and forth and an aspect which will allow for side-by-side play among children in a wheelchair and those do not require one. The playground is open to the public and will remain open throughout the summer and into the fall. Hours of operation may vary, guests are encouraged to contact our Operations Department at 570-643-7184 for playground hours of operations.

Biography This Leathers and Associates playground includes a large tree-house with ramps at different levels, sensory panels and musical instruments. There is an airplane and a train as well as a large kaleidoscope in a lookout tower. A lot of imaginative play can occur at the recording studio and stage. Biography This Leather and Associates playground includes a centralized Pirate Ship complete with waves, a rain wheel and a motion platform. There are numerous slides, bridges, rings and monkey bars (both high and low), and tunnels to explore. There is a lighthouse just like the in Port Washington’s Harbor, a rock wall with a fantastic underwater mural, chain walk, and balance beams. In the TOT Lot, a fairy tale castle, bouncy bridge, police car and a raised sandbox inspire younger children. Both areas include a variety of swings, including several designed with additional support for children with limited muscle strength. A music area features palm drums, metalliphones and a drum shaped like an alligator! Biography Overlooking a beautiful, tranquil lake, Prado Regional Park’s unique Universally Accessible Playground design weaves elements of the lush natural landscape into its playful and cool design. Toddlers can sail away in their sturdy and fully-accessible boat while school-age children discover the lost Water Island in the shade of swaying palm trees. The park has a Zero-Depth Water Play Zone. There is a sensory wall that is embedded with water creatures (turtles, fish, frogs) that splash, ribbit, and squirt; while combining a variety of textures, running water, and sound. This is a Shane’s Inspiration playground. Prado Regional Park is a one-stop recreational paradise located in the Chino Valley basin where San Bernardino, Riverside, Orange and Los Angeles Counties connect. The park is loaded with outdoor recreation and adventure offering: Fishing, camping, hiking, biking and nature trails, disc golf, picnic facilities, two 18-hole golf courses, an Olympic shooting range, horseback riding, and archery.

Notes Prairie Creek Reservoir is Muncie’s largest park and recreational haven. Located just southeast of the Muncie City limits, Prairie Creek offers a wide range of activities and amenities for those looking to get and and play or just sit back and relax. We offer everything from fishing, camping, boating, beach amenities, water sports, as well as hiking, biking dirt bike, ATV, multi-use, and horse trails. Biography The park was built with many custom-designed elements to accommodate youngsters with mobility issues, vision or hearing impairments. Here are a few examples: The park is wired with sounds (train whistle, flowing water, etc) that can help a sight impaired child navigate. The large windows in the village houses allow parents to use sign language to communicate with hearing impaired children while they play inside. Broad ramps throughout the park let youngsters in wheelchairs get a loftier view of the world. And, the slides have transfer decks so children in wheelchairs can be helped onto the equipment. Biography Playground includes a large performer dome, spinner bowls, a spica — which is a rotating play piece — an accessible seat swing, number and letter grid stencils and U.S. and world map stencils on the playground blacktop. Our gospel-themed playground offers a rubber surface and ramps for wheelchair access, shaded play structures, both plastic and stainless steel slides, adaptive zipline and swings, a communication board, and a covered patio with accessible picnic tables. Invite a friend or meet new friends as you play side-by-side as everyone, of all-abilities laughs, dreams, imagines, and plays together. No reservations are needed or fee to enter for individuals, families, or groups. Fully accessible surface and ramps to make navigating the playground a breeze whether on foot or on wheels. Shaded play structures offer hours of fun. Fully accessible merry-go-round for everyone to experience the excitement of play. Promise Park is located in central Minnesota at Buffalo Covenant Church, approximately one hour west of Minneapolis. Open every day from dawn till dusk.
