This directory lists playgrounds that have inclusive and accessible features. Yes, we would all love to have the perfect inclusive playground in our neighborhood. But we know that is not reality. Here you can find the best of the best as well as playgrounds that have added accessible swing seats or other accessible feature.

We know that it is difficult to push a wheelchair through wood mulch (EWF) and we have done our best to let you know about the surfacing.

In the BIO section, you will find a description of the playground. In the NOTES section, you will find information about the park the playground resides.

All of the playgrounds (at the time of publication) are open to the public. Any of the playgrounds located at schools, you can assume are open afterschool and on weekends. You may want to call the school to check on the opening times.

We have done our best to give as much information as we can find to describe the playgrounds. But we cannot visit all of these playgrounds, so please let us know what we are missing by submitting the park using the button below.

Notes Generations of families have enjoyed Lions Park since 1931. The Park spans over 12 acres. Enjoy the playground, picnic areas and pool/splashpad as well as a stroll along the Nith River Trail and Distillery Lane Trail that travel along the Nith River in Lions Park The Paris Community Pool and Splashpad is located in Lions Park. Biography Thi sLandscape Structures Inc playground includes a PlayBooster® playstructure which provides lots of fun for kids ages 5 to 12. There is a TurboTiwster™ Tunnel Slide, Summit Climber™, and Corkscrew Climber. Plus a PlayOdyssey® Roof provides shade from harmful UV rays. A portion of the playground has been surfaced with Playground Grass. The other portion of surfacing in wood mulch (EWF) which may make it more difficult for a person using a wheelchair to maneuver through the playground. Notes Hours: 7am – sunset daily Amenities: Disabled access toilet, parking, BBQ facilities, shaded areas, picnic tables and seating Biography Livvi’s Place is a project of Touched by Olivia, a non-profit located in Australia. They have built numerous playgrounds around Australia. This one is in Trembell Park in Canada Bay which is outside of Sidney. The playground won Parks and Leisure Australia Awards 2010 – Best Playspace, as well as Public Works Engineering Australia Engineering Excellence Award. The playground features: seating picnic tables synthetic softfall swings jungle gym rope climb natural shade rubbish bin bike track toilets shade structure bubbler BBQs. Biography The playground which opened in 2014 is located at Memorial Park, the site of the 9-11 Garden of Reflection on Woodside Road. The playground is just to the left of the bathrooms and picnic pavilion. From the article announcing the playground, “The most exciting part of this playground will be the rubberized surface that will be easily accessible for children in wheelchairs or children that may have difficulty walking. It will be laid out with a wonderful design of vines and leaves keeping with the ‘Secret Garden’ theme,” said Huchler-Smith. “A huge Sequoia Log that can be climbed on, rolled through, run through, or just sat in is a perfect example of children of all abilities being able to use the same piece of equipment alongside each other,” said Huchler-Smith. “Activity panels will be used by all to increase eye hand coordination and make sounds with the Merry Musical section,” she continued. One of the playground pieces, the Rock N Raft, will be accessible by wheelchair and then others can join in on the raft and glide back and forth, she said. “Of course there will be swings and various climbing structures,” said Huchler-Smith. “We tried to have most of the pieces with the garden theme – Mushroom table, Dragonfly seesaw, etc.”
