This directory lists playgrounds that have inclusive and accessible features. Yes, we would all love to have the perfect inclusive playground in our neighborhood. But we know that is not reality. Here you can find the best of the best as well as playgrounds that have added accessible swing seats or other accessible feature.

We know that it is difficult to push a wheelchair through wood mulch (EWF) and we have done our best to let you know about the surfacing.

In the BIO section, you will find a description of the playground. In the NOTES section, you will find information about the park the playground resides.

All of the playgrounds (at the time of publication) are open to the public. Any of the playgrounds located at schools, you can assume are open afterschool and on weekends. You may want to call the school to check on the opening times.

We have done our best to give as much information as we can find to describe the playgrounds. But we cannot visit all of these playgrounds, so please let us know what we are missing by submitting the park using the button below.

Biography This western themed playground designed by Leathers and Associates has a slide descending from a giant cowboy boot, a “Wild West” maze, a Western town around a sandbox, a spring pony, a bucking bronco platform, swings, tunnels and climbing spaces. The 6,300-square-foot park has other special touches that include a therapeutic swing, a low ladder and crawl tunnel, and a ramp to a rocking covered wagon that allows a child in a wheelchair to join the fun. Biography As children enter this fully accessible sensory-rich space, they’re immersed into their surroundings which has realistic surfaces including a variety of exhibits such as hollow trees, themed forest floor, wall murals, streams of water, tree forts, and more. They are transported into an alternate universe where light changes from sunrise to night time complete with twinkling stars and the sounds of the forest which switches from the morning twitter of birds to evening crickets and howls. The outside is the extremely imaginative Village which lyes on the edge of the Enchanted Forest. Kids can discover the Hobbits secret homes, surrounding the sacred magical dragon tree protecting the Village. Notes Surrounded by trees, a creek and a nature trail, Kiest Park includes 16 hard tennis courts and a pro shop. Kiest Park is an excellent part of the Dallas Parks and Recreation Department. This 248 acre park in southwest Dallas is composed of a championship softball complex, auxiliary softball fields, a baseball field, a soccer complex, sand volleyball courts, tennis courts, and a recreation center. Home to adult sports and youth sports alike, Kiest Park is a facility that is well tended and is an ideal spot for a wide variety of events. Biography This a nautical-themed play structure that’s completely handicapped and wheelchair accessible. It features a custom Lighthouse, a SwayFun glider, ships, a two seat tuffrider, and more. Biography Facilities available for play during non-school hours. This playground was a donation from a teacher in memory of her daughter who passed away 6 years ago. The project was originally Alexa’s Playground and through many revisions and a location change, we were able to place the playground in between the elementary school where she teaches and the middle school next door. It was important to the teacher to build a playground that included students of all abilities. The playground was dedicated on April 29, which would have been Alexa’s 10th birthday. The Pink and White Sign lists all the generous donors to the playground as well as a personalized logo panel with the school name and mascot.

Biography The playground facilitates wheelchair accessibility with wide ramps, cushioned rubberized pathways for safety, and swings with high backing for stabilized support. They have also reconstructed the sidewalk around so that it is entirely inclined, allowing wheelchairs easy entry. In addition, the park features colorful musical instruments such as drums and sound pads on the ground, that play different noises when touch activated.

Biography This is a conceptual plan of the Hope Park. It was built in 2013 by community volunteers over the span of a week. The playground is completely fenced. There is a toddler area as well as a 5-12 year old area. There are swings in both areas that include adapted swing seats. This is a Leathers and Associates designed and built playground. Biography KC2 is an all-inclusive playground, sensory garden and outdoor classroom. The community did fundraisers, wrote grants and help fund the project using Community Development Corporation funds. After two community build days the project is now complete and we will host a community-wide grand opening on Friday, May 10th, 2013 Kids Colony 2 is a playground for all children of all abilities in our community and surrounding area!1 acre of playground area with new playground equipment and pavilion with plenty of seating for parents. Phase II of Kids Colony 2 is a community-built all-inclusive playground, sensory garden and outdoor learning center planned to be built in early spring 2013. The theme of Phase II is Pioneer Town with a school house, cotton gin, bank, general store and jail. Plus a little house on the prairie. There will be native plants with interpretive signs and lots of fun! This play structure replaced the much beloved Kids Colony that was community built in 1993. These are the playground renderings. Biography Lindsay/Lyons Park and Sports Complex is a 136-acre facility with 10 lighted baseball fields and four lighted softball fields, two lighted football fields, 18 unlighted soccer fields, two lighted soccer fields, a barbecue pavilion, two playgrounds (including one all-inclusive playground and rest room facility for children of all physical abilities), picnic tables, barbecue grills, rest room facilities, and a concession stand with a pavilion. Recent additions include a paved walking trail around the playground, three 30-seat picnic pavilions, a sensory garden for sight-impaired children, a donor pavers garden, and additional trees.

It is the World’s First Ultra Accessible Family Fun Park designed specifically for children and adults with special needs, their family members, caregivers, friends and the entire community. This 25-acre park is a unique oasis, that through the spirit of inclusion, allows people of all abilities to play, learn and share life changing experiences together, in a fun and safe environment.

Morgan’s Wonderland is a seasonal park. Opening and closing times may vary throughout the year, dependent upon the season. Please note that our park is closed in January and February. Our operating seasons runs from March through December.

Children under 2 and people with special needs are free. The admission for the rest of the family ranges from $10-$15.

Morgan’s Wonderland and the STAR Soccer Complex are located just northeast of downtown San Antonio at Thousand Oaks and Wurzbach Parkway. This is the former site of the Longhorn Quarry and is directly across from Heroes Stadium, the North East ISD Stadium and Sports complex.

	Butterfly Playground Our brightly colored butterfly-themed play area is filled with lively activity. The play area is shaded and has a rubberized surface for comfort and safety too! The two playgrounds were built with Landscape Structures Inc equipment and the playground consultant on the project was Lone Star Recreations.
	Wonderland Express & Depot All aboard! Gather at our 1930s-style train depot to climb aboard the Wonderland Express! The Wonderland Express pulls multiple cars with specially designed wheelchair-accessible ramps so the whole family can enjoy a fun and relaxing ride together. The train runs all the way around our scenic eight-acre lake.
	Starlight Amphitheater With our picturesque eight-acre lake as a backdrop, the Morgan’s Wonderland Amphitheater provides the perfect setting for joyful and captivating performances and special events!
	Off-Road Adventure Ride Hop on or wheel into an off-road vehicle and cruise around the twisting, turning Morgan’s Wonderland track!
	“Taking Flight” Bronze Sculpture Artist Doug Roper’s inspiring sculpture is the unique and beautiful centerpiece of the Morgan’s Wonderland Family Fun Park. The 25-foot-tall work of art is the first thing guests see as they get set to explore the park. “Taking Flight,” the largest cast-bronze sculpture in San Antonio, took 800 pounds of clay, 1,500 pounds of steel and 6,200 pounds of bronze to create.
	Carousel Visitors young and old, regardless of ability to play, can experience the gigantic, whimsical merry-go-round!
	The Wharf “Drop anchor” at our rustic Fishing Wharf for an afternoon of fishing and fun!
	Pirate Island Playground & Garden Ahoy, mateys! Cross a bridge and get ready to explore an island full of fantasy and fun!
	Walk & Roll Path Take the scenic route around Morgan’s Wonderland and enjoy a quiet stroll or roll with great views of the lake, gardens and fountains!
	Garden Sanctuary & Memorial Wall This peaceful garden along the lake shore has been landscaped to create a lush oasis within the park. Winding trails and quaint alcoves serve as the perfect escape for those who want a quiet retreat and a cool, relaxing break.
	Water Works Get set to get (a little) wet! Our Water Works play area is an interactive array of water-related gizmos such as squirting pipes and spinning water wheels, plus special dams that control water flow. All of it is specially designed with many sensory activities involving lights, sound and tactile features, and of course it provides full wheelchair access to all the wet and wacky fun!
	The Picnic Place Lunching was never so much fun! Enjoy a snack from Morgan’s Wonderland or from your own lunchbox here in this delightful, shaded oasis!
	Sand Circle™ Unleash your imagination in the fully accessible Morgan’s Wonderland Sand Circle™!

Biography Patricia LeBlanc playground is Fort Worth’s second accessible playground for children of all ages and abilities. It includes musical instruments, audio, swings, slides, and bridges to encourage children’s motor, visual, and auditory processing. This park also has shorter structures and turf to lessen the risk of injury. It also includes two covered pavillions, water fountains, portable restrooms, and benches (some covered).
