This directory lists playgrounds that have inclusive and accessible features. Yes, we would all love to have the perfect inclusive playground in our neighborhood. But we know that is not reality. Here you can find the best of the best as well as playgrounds that have added accessible swing seats or other accessible feature.

We know that it is difficult to push a wheelchair through wood mulch (EWF) and we have done our best to let you know about the surfacing.

In the BIO section, you will find a description of the playground. In the NOTES section, you will find information about the park the playground resides.

All of the playgrounds (at the time of publication) are open to the public. Any of the playgrounds located at schools, you can assume are open afterschool and on weekends. You may want to call the school to check on the opening times.

We have done our best to give as much information as we can find to describe the playgrounds. But we cannot visit all of these playgrounds, so please let us know what we are missing by submitting the park using the button below.

Biography The Becker Park inclusive play area features a wide variety of accessible features surrounded by 14,000 sf of poured in place surfacing. The play area is divided into two play containers that have a shaded patio with accessible tables in between. A few steps away is an interactive fountain / spray pad, with fully accessible gender neutral restrooms also nearby. Other features in the park include a picnic area with charcoal grills and accessible tables, a performance area, drinking fountains and plenty of wide sidewalks with benches and pull-offs for wheelchairs or strollers.

Biography This inclusive PlayBooster® playstructure welcomes all children to the center of the action. An elevated berm attaches to the playstructure to put kids at the top of the structure, and poised to fly down the SpyroSlide™. Additionally, lots of play panels are available for social play. Biography The playground opened in 2014 and has equipment from Landscape Structures. Some of the equipment is designed to support a child who may be unable to sit or stand on their own, or who might need other physical accommodations. There’s also equipment that addresses children who may be on the autism spectrum or who have sensory processing disorders. Cornelia’s playground is outfitted with bells, a wall with colorful marbles kids can spin, an area where large groups of kids can rock and sway, whether they are seated in a wheelchair, a bench or clinging to the side. Playground includes an EVOS climbing structure, a Sway Fun glider, a roller table. The surfacing is wood mulch (EWF) which make it more difficult for some people to maneuver through the playground.

Biography The playground is open to the public during non-school hours. The manufacturer of the equipment is Landscape Structures. The playground includes: an EVOS structure, a roller slide, a Sway Fun, belt swings and an accessible swing seat, a sand play area, and a climbing net. Biography King Park includes a Miracle League baseball field plus hosts a total of nine ball fields. Naturally, the playground is baseball diamond-shaped, and it features an accessible PlayBooster® playstructure that boasts plenty of kid-approved climbers, spinners and sensory panels. Biography The 16,000-square-foot all-inclusive playground with sun-shade covered play decks, swings, sensory play equipment and ramps for wheelchair access opened in 2016. The playground includes: A swing for wheelchairs. A 50-foot “zipline” ride for kids in bucket seats. A shady tunnel with star-shaped inserts that light up on sunny days. A bucket-seat merry-go-round. Special slides that don’t generate static electricity, which could interfere with cochlear implants or hearing aids. The “Learning Wall” with Braille letters. There is a Splash Pad next to the playground.

Biography The Miller Park Splash Pad is a water-play area in Miller Park which uses no standing water; instead, it has sprinklers which are activated by pressing a button with bare feet/skin contact. The water is released on a timer once the button is pressed, and after an interval it shuts off. Users of the splash pad need only press the button again to reactivate the water. MILLER PARK BARRIER-FREE PLAYGROUND which opened in 2009 features accessible pathways and surface structures, and gives non-mobile children and adults the opportunity to reach all levels of the play structure. The design allows children with physical challenges the opportunity to play alongside their peers.

Biography The playground, which opened in 2016, with a northwoods theme, has a rubberized surfacing so children of all abilities can access and enjoy the play equipment, which includes ramps, slides and climbing apparati. There are molded, high-back swings with harnesses and a high-back “omni spinner” with transfer points for children who use wheelchairs and walkers. Sensory-rich elements also will provide activities for those with developmental disabilities. A playground in Bemidji by in located near the Paul Bunyan and Babe the Blue Ox famous statues.

Our gospel-themed playground offers a rubber surface and ramps for wheelchair access, shaded play structures, both plastic and stainless steel slides, adaptive zipline and swings, a communication board, and a covered patio with accessible picnic tables. Invite a friend or meet new friends as you play side-by-side as everyone, of all-abilities laughs, dreams, imagines, and plays together. No reservations are needed or fee to enter for individuals, families, or groups. Fully accessible surface and ramps to make navigating the playground a breeze whether on foot or on wheels. Shaded play structures offer hours of fun. Fully accessible merry-go-round for everyone to experience the excitement of play. Promise Park is located in central Minnesota at Buffalo Covenant Church, approximately one hour west of Minneapolis. Open every day from dawn till dusk.

Biography The toddler playground opened in 2010 and was the first toddler playground integrating both inclusive and natural play elements in Minnesota. Designed by Landscape Structures Inc., our new playground is custom designed with every toddler in mind. The equipment is specifically for children 16 months to three years, at all stages of physical, cognitive and social development The layout provides the perfect balance of open space to run, jump and roll as well as fun play components that provide the “just-right challenge” for everyone St. David’s Center features a state-of-the-art playground developed for both typically developing children and children with special needs. MeMe’s Playground is located on the northern perimeter of St. David’s Center (near Plymouth Road) and is open to the public after 6:00 p.m. on weekdays and on weekends.
