This directory lists playgrounds that have inclusive and accessible features. Yes, we would all love to have the perfect inclusive playground in our neighborhood. But we know that is not reality. Here you can find the best of the best as well as playgrounds that have added accessible swing seats or other accessible feature.

We know that it is difficult to push a wheelchair through wood mulch (EWF) and we have done our best to let you know about the surfacing.

In the BIO section, you will find a description of the playground. In the NOTES section, you will find information about the park the playground resides.

All of the playgrounds (at the time of publication) are open to the public. Any of the playgrounds located at schools, you can assume are open afterschool and on weekends. You may want to call the school to check on the opening times.

We have done our best to give as much information as we can find to describe the playgrounds. But we cannot visit all of these playgrounds, so please let us know what we are missing by submitting the park using the button below.

Biography Located a half-mile from a historic Wright Brothers site, the Landscape Structures Inc play structure features elements commemorating the brother’s aviation and cycling successes. The playground consultant for this playground was Service Supply.

Biography The universal access playground which opened in 2014 includes an Omni Spin, double slides, a roller table, double wide ramps on the ramped structure,accessible swing seats, interactive play panels, music and nets under the ramps for hanging out. The wading pool features a waterfall and spray structure that looks like the rock of the river bluffs; benches surround the tree-shaded pool. Biography Warriors’ Path is the only Tennessee State Park with a Boundless Playground – where children of all physical and mental abilities can play together. Other unique features throughout the park that are fully accessible include: the Lions Narnia Braille Trail with eight sensory stations along a quarter-mile that tell visitors the story of Aslan of the Chronicles of Narnia, the Anderson Treehouse which is a fully-accessible tree house and the Palmer Center Foundation Amphitheater which can host audiences of up to 1,000 people.

Notes Major elements of the Wegmans Playground include: Three large sections of the playground: Playhouse (2-12 yrs), Pre-School Age (2-5 yrs.) and School Age (5-12 yrs.) Sway Fun, a teeter-totter structure able to accommodate wheelchairs. Direct ramp access to the largest area, the School Age section Sensory-rich play stations Elevated sand boxes 8 ft. suspension bridge Imagination & Activity Panels such as a sight ‘n sound panel, magic ball popper panel, vision adventure panel, park ranger panel, race car panel and more. Chameleon & Flippopotamus Slide systems Orbit, Horseshoe, Cargo, Spiral and Hump Bridge Loop Climbers Spider, Look Out and Horizontal Ladder Unitary Surfacing, a poured in place rubber and Fibar, a specially formulated wood chip material will make the playground easier to navigate for children and adults in wheelchairs. Biography Playground is opened to the public during non-school hours. The playground includes a ramped structure, swings, accessible swing seats, Aeroglider, A Cozy Cocoon designed for children with autism, a see-saw and spinners. The playground has surfacing which is a combination of wood chips (EWF) and pour-in-place. The Wood Chips may make is more difficult for a person using a wheelchair to maneuver through the playground.

Designated parking spaces and a ramp provide accessibility to the picnic pavillions as well as the courts. There are paved walkways to and from most amenities, including the outdoor stage area.

These playgrounds can also include accessible amenities, which can include drinking fountains and comfort stations. All NYC playgrounds have pour-in-place rubber or tiles for surfacing. This playground does have an adapted swing seat. This playground is set in a small valley surrounded by large trees and rock outcrops – a dramatic topography that characterizes the northern part of Central Park. The Conservancy’s playground designers chose the playground’s colors, layout and forms to blend with the surrounding landscape. Features: Playground highlights include a sandbox, embankment slide, modern climbers and spinners, tire and bucket swings and a contoured safety surface. Water Feature: Four granite posts spray water into a centrally located water play area. Recent Reconstruction: The Central Park Conservancy reconstructed the playground in 2006.

It includes a NEOS 360-a large electronic game, an Aeroglider, ramped structure. There is a Cozy Cocoon that provides a place for children to crawl that muffles noises and is designed for children on the autism spectrum and a Drop Zone which is a gently spinning ride down to the ground.

Biography This Shane’s Inspiration and Landscape Structure’s playground opened in 2014. The Play 4 All playground is an “inclusive” playground. Every part of the park is accessible by a wheelchair. One piece of equipment is a spaceship that has a spot open for a child in a wheelchair to ride while it rocks. The park also has a sand pit where there are dinosaur bones in the sand, music equipment that helps kids with sensory problems and more. Kids ages 5 to 12 can roll, jump and climb aboard this PlayBooster® playstructure that features quirky UFO roofs and satellite toppers. The moon and stars on the CoolToppers® shade system fit right in. Moon-rock steppers and a concrete solar system offer educational activities along with tactile experiences.
